Cyprus Turns a New Page in 2015

The President of the Republic addressed the people of Cyprus in his New Year’s message, looking forwards to better economic times, wealth and peace.

Cyprus’ President Nicos Anastasiades’ message to the people was one of better economic prosperity for the country as a whole.

“Cyprus turns a page and we get into a new era. As a result of the sacrifices made by our people and the program that we have followed, we can say that the year 2014 can be characterised as the year of the stabilisation and the restoration of the financial credibility of the state, as well as of the consolidation and the revival of the banking system, which resulted in successful stress tests by the banking sector,” the President said in his message.

“The economy is now stabilised. Cyprus returned to the markets. Our financial system has been consolidated and made great progress. International Rating Agencies as well as our international lenders at last evaluate Cypriot banks and our economy with continuous positive grades.”

In his address, the President also spoke about peace negotiations, and moving the country forward with the exploration of its newly found natural wealth.
